Act 2
Scene 1
George and Walter is in a really intensive relationship. Walter hate him because George feels like they are not on the same level.
George was not interested in African heritage, he and Beneatha had a argument about that.
Mama announced that they will be moving into a new house in a white neighborhood. Walter is not happy because he feels like he’s not playing any role in the process of the move, he should be the one that purchase the house for the family. Walter also feels like she had crushes his dream of opening a liquor store.
Scene 2
George and Beneatha went back from a date. George wanted to kiss her but Beneatha didn’t.
What George wanted for girl is not who Beneatha is. After went back home, she talked with her mom that she didn’t like him because he’s a fool. Mama supported her.
Mrs Johnson comes to visit. She talks about how dangerous it is for them to live in a white neighborhood.
Walter’s boss called in that said Walter has not been in work for three days. Walter explained that he feels depressed as the man of the family. Mama felt guilty for this and gave him the remaining 6,500 dollars and tell him to spend 3,000 to support Beneatha’s education when it’s needed. Walter is happy because he finally can achieve his dream.
Scene 3:
Walter and Ruth is in better relation right now. They went to movies and dance.
A white man Karl Lindler came and told him the danger of them to live in a white community. He also said that the association is preparing to offer the money they paid for the house or even more to get the house back and keep them out of the community. Walter, Ruth and Beneatha became very upset but they controlled their anger. They decided to refuse that offer. Mama supported it after she came back home.
It turns out that Walter invested all the money he got from Mama, including the 3,000 that was aim to support Beneatha’s education. The family was sad and angry for that decision.
